What if we got better at the two things Jesus said matter most?

Love God.

Love Your Neighbor.

Thank you for joining us at LifeBridge Christian Church, Longmont, CO for the 2016 Neighborhood Collective gathering in February. Visit the Gathering page for recordings of the main sessions.

What good is a door with just one hinge?

You need two hinges or it just doesn’t work.

Jesus said to love God AND love your neighbor as yourself.

If “loving God” is the top hinge then “loving your neighbor” is the bottom one.

They cannot be separated.

Jesus said, “All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

v

Brian Mavis, LifeBridge Christian Church

“For the first time in 20 years of ministry I feel like I am doing what God called me to do.”

v

Chris Freeland, McKinney Church

“Neighboring is not a strategy. It is not the bullet. It is the bull’s-eye. It is now core to who we are as a church.”

But he wanted to justify himself, so he asked Jesus,

“And who is my neighbor?” Luke 10:29

When we over-generalize the Great Commandment and make everyone our neighbor, then nobody is a neighbor. Neighboring Churches teach, encourage, equip and release people to know and love their literal neighbors…the guy, gal or family next door and across the street.

Aim at nothing specific and you hit nothing.

Aim at knowing your literal neighbors.

About

What if we got better at the two things Jesus said matter most? Love God. Love Your Neighbor. The Neighboring Church provides resources and connections to encourage Christians and churches to love their literal neighbors. Our goal is to help you be the best neighbor your neighbors have ever had.

The Neighboring Church is a ministry of LifeBridge Christian Church in Longmont, CO, many of the same people who brought you The Externally Focused Church resources. (Contributors include Rick Rusaw, Brian Mavis, Krista Petty, and Kevin Colón and many others.) We invite you to join the conversation and share your neighboring stories and resources by emailing us.

“Do this and you will live,”  was Jesus’ promise if we obey The Greatest Commandment. It’s a promise He longs to fulfill. Loving God and your neighbor is life-giving!
